Our scientists and technology staff played key roles in both the Macondo and Montara spill responses. Through many years 

supporting the events and the damage assessment in the Gulf of Mexico we have taken our own learnings, and those of the wider scientific community, and applied them to our new generation of oil spill modelling software. Advancements in weathering and transformation algorithms, including for unique oils that tend to form emulsions and/or tar balls, have been made that substantially improve risk assessment and associated response planning. The result will be an environment that is better protected and effects that are better understood.
